Both dam and sire need to carry the chocolate gene if there are to be any choc pups in a litter.

I would like to add to this thread that as I am expecting a baby in July and have no litters planned for this year, I may not be as responsive to doodle enquiries as I would normally be ..... apologies for this .

:? Officially, they will be 2nd generation, as you should only go up 1 generation from the lowest. But, it really doesn't matter because they are all wonderfull regardless of generation. Multi-generation is a very good description for those with mixed parentage. Sadly, there seems to be quite a bit...

All three of my first gen litters were huge .... Maddie had 11 and then 12 and then Daisy had 12 last year  .... thankfully our backcross litter at Christmas consisted of only 7 and being pregnant myself I was very grateful !

Congratulations on the new arrivals ! :D

I live up North and I would say the majority of my puppies go down SOUTH and don't appear to suffer in anyway from having to travel ... I suspect a lot of people would rather travel for a good quality puppy and pay a more reasonable price .... I do think if breeders down South continue to charge mor...

well you have no idea how the brindle ones will turn out, so I personally would charge no more or less for them .... doodles are expensive enough as it is.

Dougal is exactly the same shade as my Blue Standard Poodle, Maddie ! :D Colour gentics is fascinating ..... who would have thought when we mated Maddie (who I thought was entirely Black bred) to Doodles (Alison Kelly's doodle stud dog) , who is Silver, that half the litter would be Chocolate and ha...

Thanks guys ! Kona is named after a rich dark coffee that her owners enjoyed whilst on a holiday in Hawaii apparently !... I doubt very much she will be bred from, which is a shame but never mind ... she is a wonderful pet and that is the main thing. :D As for checking out the pics on the gallery - ...

If anyone is interested to see what an F2B pup looks like (Mother St poodle, Father 2nd Gen Labradoodle) then please take a look at Kona on the Gallery - she is Chocolate and I bred her - born Dec 20th last year. I think she is beautiful ! (although I am biased I guess !) :D

I also don't think anyone can compare the highest labrador or poodle hip score on record with the labradoodles, simply because so few labradoodles have been hip scored, it is not a fair or reliable comparison to say the least !

Well via my website, we have been informed of a few doodles who have been diagnosed with hip dysplasia (none bred by ourselves I might add) and in all cases there had been no hip scoring (whether parents had been lab/poodle or doodle)..... certainly it would prove detrimental to the breed in the lon...

I must say I agree with Doobs, there is far too much backbiting amongst Labradoodle breeders and I do tend as a breeder, to keep myself to myself for that reason - I have far more important things in my life to be occupying my time with than making insinuations/judgments about other breeders ! :roll...

All prospective doodle owners/ stud dog users should ask to see the original hip score green form ..... simple as that .... of course stud dog owners should also ask to see the bitches hip score too if they have been told she has been hip scored.

You tend to find that most breeders of "pure breeds" do charge around the same price for their puppies, even though there is no "written rule" so to speak, it just seems to happen that way ... although you would expect to pay more for a pup that had show potential. I think the only way to try and st...
